The 2010 USA Hockey (USAH) national camp selection process is almost complete for the 2010 season. Each of the 12 USAH districts have completed tryouts for the U17 (1993 birth year) girls and have submitted the names to USAH. As was done last year, goalies at this age group are evaluated at district camps and the evaluation results are submitted to USAH. They then look at the entire pool of recommended goalies and choose eight (8) to invite. Additionally, there are extra camp allocations for forwards and defense kept by USAH that are to be used for “at-large” selections. These selections are are primarily used for girls who have proven themselves as national level athletes and for one reason or another, were not selected at their district camp. It might be injury, missed tryouts, limited district allocation, or other criteria. For 2010 I think there are 4 forward, 3 defense, and 8 goalies that will be selected by USAH. It is expected they will send out notifications in early June.
The following list is what I’ve been able to gather from district postings of tryout results and various other sources. At the U17 level, the only district I don’t have player selections from is Michigan. If you have a comment, or correction, please let me know.
