USHA U17/U16 Day 4 Summary

USHA U17/U16 Day 4 Summary

Well Day 4 was action packed for everyone at camp.  This day is know as “over the hump day” and is typically the hardest day of the camp.  All the hard work up to this point, a tough practice and the anticipation and nerves of the games really made it a tough day.  But from now on, the practices will get easier and the focus will be on games.  The girls started out the day with a shared ice 1.5hr practice  that consisted of power skating (mostly backward) that took up the first 30 minutes.  The remainder of the practice consisted of passing and shooting stations where the girls rotated around to.  Followed up by small games for the final 20 minutes.

The games are the most anticipated part of the camp and the girls were really looking forward to them.  Most were somewhat nervous as a lot of college scouts started to visibly be seen in the stands.  The actual games were a lot of fun to watch.  There was a lot of speculation about some teams being “stacked” and how they would dominate, but that didn’t materialize.  At this level, all the girls are quality athletes and every game was a good one.  Hopefully today the girls will be a little more rested and the competition will be even faster.

I tried to update real time via twitter the scores but don’t know how well or valuable that worked out to those interested.  I will continue the same today.

As to photos, I did take some but haven’t had time to process and post them yet.  I have included a few here.  More to follow.
